The Hannibal Jaycees and River City Billiards hosted their first Washers Tournament on Saturday, April 12.
Twelve teams played washers in a double elimination style tournament. The Jaycees were able to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities by way of registration fees of teams, raffles, food sales and donations.
Golden Eagle, Mark Twain Distributors, Swiss Colony, and McDonalds all made contributions in order to make the Washers Tournament a success. Food sales were nearly doubled by a pie auction that took place near the end of the tournament. Several members of the Jaycees and their families donated the pies that were auctioned.
A 50/50 raffle was also held, raising $241. When the winning ticket was drawn, the announcement came from the winners, Donnie and Terri Brooks, that they would be donating their $120.50 back to the Jaycees for the Ronald McDonald House.
First place winners were Kevin Stevenson and Robbie Moss. In second place were Mark Muellring and Aaron Bohm. The first-place winners each received a new set of washers and a plaque, while second place also received a plaque in recognition. (article courtesy of the Hannibal Courier-Post)
