Rules and Regulations
This year the parade will be a little different than in years past. When you come to line up the morning of the 4th, you will be given a sign with a number that must be displayed on the floats visibly. This number will identify your float/entry for judging. We will be awarding the top 3 floats with a plaque/trophy this year to show appreciation of the hard work that can go into making a float. Our theme this year is "Let Freedom Ring". So get your crew ready to start decorating your floats to corolate with the theme. Of course red, white, and blue will be the most popular, but it would be great to have some really stand out floats this year to impress the crowd, and the judges.
The pre registration (by July 1st) entry fee this year is $10 per float/entry, $15, if received the day of parade. Registrations can either be mailed to the address below, or e-mailed to fosterj72@yahoo.com. You can pay the day of the parade if you choose to e-mail your registration, but you must pre register before the deadline.
There have been safety concerns brought to the Jaycees on behalf of the Hannibal Police Department and also spectators. Throwing candy or objects from the floats will not be allowed. If there are complaints that things are being thrown, you may be denied entry into the following years' parade. If you would like to pass candy out, please feel free to have help walk alongside your float/entry to do so. There have been safety issues due to children running into the streets to pick up candies, without regard to oncoming vehicles and floats.
Another concern brought to the Jaycees attention are the motorcycles and A.T.V.'s The drivers of these vehicles must be accompanied by an adult. They must handle the vehicles with respect to everyone around them. Revving of the engines to speed for a few feet and slamming on the brakes, wheelie's, and any other inappropriate driving will not be tolerated. This concern has been by not only the bystanders and fellow parade floats, but the HPD as well.
You will need to sign your registration forms with the acknowledgement of reading the Rules and Regulations. A registration form not signed with the acknowledgement will not be allowed in the parade.
